Wai
Wai - nvs. Water, liquid or liquor of any kind other than sea water (see ex., koni), juice, sap, honey; liquids discharged from the body, as blood, semen; color, dye, pattern; to flow, like water, fluid.
Wai is one of the most important resources that we have. Access to clean water is a necessity for life and for industry. We are looking at examining the water cycles and seeing the changes that have caused many challenges here in Hawaii and around the world. Being on an island with limited resources, we will need to be mindful of our actions that can have long lasting effects upon our access to water.

He huewai ola ke kanaka na Kāne
Man is Kāneʻs living water gourd. Water is life and Kāne is the keeper of water.

Papa mālama honua examines our water cycle by visiting the source of our wai on the windward side. We were able to see our hydrologic cycle in action and learn from the Board of Water Supply and share mana with Hāmama Falls, the Waiheʻe stream and Waiheʻe water tunnel.
