Papa Mālama Honua at IUCN 2016
Our haumana were able to be a part of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature World Conservation Congress (http://www.iucnworldconservationcongress.org/) and attend the studentʻs day. Over 1000 haumana from around the state in grades 6-12 participated in a design thinking activity to engage them to find innovative actions and solutions around sustainability. Questions like how might we empower the youth of Hawaii to lead the change to save the Earth or how might we engage communities to care for the environment (public parks, streams, beaches) as if it was their own backyard were examined and addressed. We were also exposed to world renown experts who shared their ʻike and manaʻo and were challenged to take action.
